Witness and Warning

By David J. Smith
September 30, 2006

God has a plan – a secret plan that is hidden from the world at large. It is sometimes called the “mystery of the kingdom of heaven.” Mystery meanssecret plan.

God has a secret plan that is being worked out here below. Winston Churchill once made reference to it by saying that a person would truly have to be blind not to see that a great purpose is being worked out on earth of which we are a great part.

He hit the nail right on the head. When Christ comes, notice what He will do: “And He will destroy … the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over ALL nations” (Isaiah 25: 7). This is a vail of spiritual blindness.

This blindness is confirmed in the newer writings – Romans 11: 7, 25-27: “What then? Israel has not obtained that which he seeks for; but the election has obtained it, and the rest were BLINDED.”For I would not … that you should be ignorant of this MYSTERY [secret plan], … that BLINDNESS in part is happened to Israel, UNTIL the fullness of the Gentiles [nations] be come in. And so all Israel shall be saved:…”

God allowed a spirit being who had rebelled against Him to remain on this earth when man was formed. It is this ungodly deceiver that has caused the human race to be blinded spiritually to God’s Everlasting Covenant (Psalm 105: 6-10; Hebrews 13: 20-21).

God will not remove the blinders UNTIL Jesus Christ is sent back to this earth to establish the Kingdom of God. Jesus inspired prophets of old to WARN and WITNESS that the kingdom is coming to correct all the problems we have faced and will face today.

He told Isaiah the prophet to “Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet, and show My people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins” (Isaiah 58: 1).

God sent out the warning before the great Deluge, called Noah’s flood, was to occur. “By faith Noah … moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith” (Hebrews 11: 7). “For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell (Greek: Tartaros – place of restraint), and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; and spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a PREACHER of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly” (2 Peter 2: 4-5). Noah warned that sin was covering the earth. The world needed a new form of government. Thus, Noah warned mankind that his system of government would one day come to an end. The Kingdom of God would supercede Satan’s system of today!

Notice Jesus’ words: “And this gospel [good news] of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a WITNESS unto all nations; and then shall the end come” (Matthew 24: 14). The message is a witness and warning; and if someone is convicted by the message, they can be trained to become a king and priest and rule with Christ (Revelation 1: 5-6; 5: 9-10; 20:4, 6).

God has always in every generation reared up a voice of warning and witness. Jesus said the grave would not overtake His church. There would always be someone that is giving the warning to turn and a witness of the coming Kingdom of God to solve the world’s problems.

Jesus alone calls: “You have NOT chosen Me, but I [Jesus] have chosen you, and ordained you, that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain” (John 15: 16).

Jesus inspired Ezekiel to write his large prophetic book. Note one section: “Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, speak to the children of your people, and say unto them, When I bring a sword [war] upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he sees the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and WARN the people; Then whosoever hears the sound of the trumpet, and takes NOT WARNING; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that TAKES WARNING shall deliver his soul. … So you, O son of man, I have set you a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore you shall hear the word at My mouth, and WARN them from Me… (Ezekiel 33: 1-9).

The United States is being warned. Ezekiel wrote in 586 B.C., 130 years after Israel was deported out of their land. The book is for the LATTER TIMES, LATTER DAYS (Ezekiel 38: 8, 16). Warn – witness – our job. Let’s do it!!!
