Jesus Can and Will Protect!

By David J. Smith

The Bible states that there is no other name or authority under heaven whereby men must be saved other than Jesus Christ (Acts 4: 12). This only authority, Jesus the Christ of Almighty God, said in Luke 21: 36: “Watch you therefore, and pray always that you may be accounted worthy to ESCAPE all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.”

Why would the ONLY authority that can save us, give us hope of protection and survival of terrible end time events say He could if it were not so? He would not; therefore, it must be true.

Were these words for Christians that lived before the end of the age? NO!!! The Apostle Paul was inspired to write: “WE shall not all sleep [or die] …” It sounded like he believed many in his day would not die; however, that was not the case. It qualifies by saying “at the last trump.” The last trump is at the very end when Jesus intervenes in world affairs to establish His kingdom. This is the time period when “WE which are alive” and the dead shall be resurrected and changed together.

In like manner, Jesus was answering a set of questions. One was “the sign of His coming.” He continued by mentioning many events that would be very hazardous to our health. He said specifically to this group of people at the “end of the age” that they should “pray always that you might be accounted worthy to escape all these things ”

Jesus mentioned the every day events, such as wars, revolutions, world wars, earthquakes, terrible famines and disease epidemics, religious persecution, turning in relatives to save their own skin, etc. He tells of the Middle East problems and the final capturing of Jerusalem.

Suddenly, He turns His thoughts to the real extinction level events that will try every human being (Luke 21: 25-28). When we compare these scriptures with Matthew 24: 21-22, Jeremiah 30: 4-7, and Revelation 8, we can identify what Jesus meant when He said: “pray always that you may be accounted worthy to ESCAPE all these things …”

When something draws meteorites and asteroids into our atmosphere, which plunges into the ocean and some land areas, the entire human race will fear that an extinction level event is in process. No wonder it says men’s hearts will fail them when they actually SEE this with their own eyes! Nations will be in sudden chaos. Perplexity will set in – meaning seeing NO WAY OUT OF TOTAL ANNIHILATION OF THE HUMAN RACE!!!

Thankfully, Jesus meant what He said! There will be a way to escape – through Him!!! Jesus told the Philadelphia church that: “Because you have KEPT the word of my patience [the 10 Commandments], I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to TRY them that dwell upon the earth” (Revelation 3: 10). According to Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary, from means: “keep out of contact with.” Here is a group of saints KEEPING Jesus’ ways that will be preserved or kept out of contact with this near extinction level event.

There is another group that will be Divinely sealed for protection. Revelation 7: 1-4 reveals that God will send an angel to SEAL 144,000 individuals. All the damage to planet earth will be restrained UNTIL the completion of the sealing of the 144,000. SEAL means “to hedge around to keep from misappropriation.” Jesus will deem these people WORTHY TO ESCAPE these near extinction level events.

Jesus works! He knows who are His. He knows the heart and mind of each of us. Some are truly dedicated to Him while others may compromise in some manner. He reveals this information in Revelation 12: 13-17: “And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished [Greek: fattened with food] for a time, and times, and half a time [3 ½ years], from the face of the serpent. And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood [of armies – Isaiah 59: 19] after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth [Greek – region] helped the woman; and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood [of armies] that the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth [enraged] with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.”

The remnant are the “remaining ones” not in this safe haven. Even if it takes martyrdom for some to be saved, Jesus can accomplish this. Jesus said to “pray always that YOU might be accounted worthy to ESCAPE all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.” I pray we will ALL be accounted worthy to escape!!!
