In the “Latter Days” You Shall Consider It!

By David J. Smith
May 24, 2008

“… in the latter days you shall consider it perfectly” (Jeremiah 23: 20, last). In order to determine what is being discussed you must read the whole section of scripture. It is, supposedly, talking about modern day prophets and ministers. However, we are told in verse 16 that certain men prophesy from their own mind, and not from God! As a result, these men make you vain – worthless spiritually.

Verse 21 says “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.” What is it that these false prophets are saying that has caused God to write these scriptures for the latter days? “They say still unto them that despise me [by not obeying], The Lord has said, You shall have peace: and they say unto every one that walks after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.” (v. 17).

It is very interesting how these words are coming to pass. First, we are told by the vast majority of ministers that there will be a rapture of the saints before the tribulation occurs, so they will not experience any suffering! Then the phrase “tribulation saints” is used for those that will go through the great tribulation! Secondly, We are told that “peace” will be everywhere. Example, our prophecy TV program has been banned from two different networks because they only want uplifting programming!

Will there be a rapture of the saints before the tribulation and peace? No! “Immediately AFTER the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall [appear to] fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: And THEN shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall SEE the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other” (Matthew 24: 29-31).

Jesus said: “For then shall be GREAT TRIBULATION, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days [of tribulation] should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved [alive]: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened” (Matthew 24: 21-22). The angels will gather the elect AFTER this terrible tribulation that would kill all life if Jesus and His angels didn’t intervene.

Notice what was inspired: “And these are the words that the Lord spoke concerning Israel and concerning Judah. For thus says the Lord; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace. Ask you now, and see whether a man does travail with child? Wherefore [why?] do I see every man with his hands on his loins, as a woman in travail, and ALL faces are turned into paleness? Alas! For that day is great, so that NONE is like it: It is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it” (Jeremiah 30: 4-7).

Notice what is to happen in the latter days! “Behold, the Lord makes the earth empty [no people], and makes it waste, and turns it upside down, and scatters abroad the inhabitants thereof” (Isaiah 24: 1). A “pole shift” is coming to turn the earth upside down on its axis. The result: “…for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations [gravity] of the earth do shake. The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage …” (Isaiah 24: 18b-20a).

True saints will be spared much of this GREAT TRIBULATION by divine protection. “Because you have kept the word of my patience, I will also KEEP YOU FROM THE HOUR OF TEMPTATION, which shall come upon all the world to TRY them that dwell upon the earth” (Revelation 3: 10).

God makes it clear WHY this terrible time is coming: “The earth also is defiled [polluted] under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore has the curse [of death] devoured the earth, and they that therein are desolate [guilty]: therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left” (Isaiah 24:5-6). The Everlasting Covenant is mentioned in Genesis 17: 1-7; Psalm 105: 6-10; Hebrews 13: 20-21.

God has a Plan for the human race. He is allowing mankind to violate His covenant and experience the consequences – evil, unhappiness, and death. That will all change after a great “reddish” planet – called Planet X – comes through our solar system and wrecks havoc with our earth. Earthquakes, terrible floods, mountains crashing and islands sinking, while new land masses emerge. Christ will save the human race from utter destruction and restore the earth for salvation (Acts 3: 18-21).
