God offers many promises in His Word . the Bible. He or His Son, Jesus Christ, first calls us to repentance. Repentance means we turn around and stop breaking His spiritual law, the Ten Commandments; we now obey it.
As we begin our journey of obedience to God, we discover His promises from reading the Bible and hearing sermons of His ministers. One thing that we can note is that the promises pertain to individuals who obey God. Notice what He does in Acts 5:32: .And we [the Apostles] are His [Jesus.] witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to them that OBEY Him..
After the obedience process begins, the promises God made for the righteous will stand firm IF WE DO NOT TURN BACK TO THIS SINFUL WORLD!!! On the day of Pentecost, the people heard the message of Jesus dying for our sins. They asked what they should do. They were told to repent and be baptized for the remission of their sins. They were told in Acts 2:39: .For the promise [of receiving the Holy Spirit] is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are AFAR OFF [us today], even as many as the Lord our God shall call..
He promised: Revelation 1:5-6: .And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first-begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, And has made us kings and priests unto God and His Father; to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen..
To be a king like Jesus, we need a body that cannot die. I Corinthians 15:50-53: .Behold, I show you a mystery [secret]; we shall not all sleep [die], but we shall all be CHANGED, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trump shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruption, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [subject to death] must put on IMMORTALITY [not subject to death]..
Notice that the promise is received AFTER the action on our part has been completed.
Jesus sent a letter to seven churches in Asia Minor. The letter addressed the shortcomings of each. After His correction, He made some revealing statements. Rev. 2 V. 7 .He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches [plural]; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.. The promise was for after performing God.s ways. We have to overcome FIRST!!!
V. 11 .He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches; He that OVERCOMES shall not be hurt of the second death.. If we overcome and receive our new immortal body, we will have no fear of dying in the Lake of Fire.
The church in Pergamos had some major problems, but notice V. 16-17 “Repent; or else I will come unto you quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth. He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches; To him that overcomes will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knows saving he that receives it.” It is AFTER we have lived a life of obedience before the promises are received.
V. 26-29 “And he that OVERCOMES, and keeps My works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; .And I will give him the morning star. He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.. He/she will rule in Jesus. 1,000 year reign.”
Revelation 3 V. 5-6 “He that OVERCOMES . He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.”
V. 12-13 “Him that OVERCOMES will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, . He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.”
V. 21-22 “To him that OVERCOMES will I grant to sit with Me in My throne . He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says unto the churches.” Thank you Father for this knowledge!
