“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion …” (Genesis 1:26). Three plural pronouns were used in v.26! Who were these individual Gods that it mentions?
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word [Spokesman] was with God, and the Word WAS God. [two Gods are mentioned] The same [the Word] was in the beginning WITH God. All things were made by Him [the Word]; and without Him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:1-3). Notice it was God, the Word which means Spokesman that made everything that exists. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
“And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world has been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:” (Ephesians 3:9). Since Jesus was the Word [Spokesman] for God, yet He was God and created ALL things, it was Jesus in the beginning with the Father God. Jesus was God because He was the only Son of God the Father that had been born into the God family.
“For by Him [Jesus] were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: ALL things were created by Him [Jesus], and for Him: And He is before all things, and by Him all things consist” (Colossians 1:16-17). Who was it that did the creating in Genesis One? JESUS!!! Who was the Word [Spokesman] that spoke everything into existence and all things came about? JESUS!!!
“But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by Him” (I Corinthians 8:6). Notice a statement by Jesus: “I and My Father are one” (John 10:30). Jesus meant they were of the same Family, goals, ideas, and character and Spirit composition. “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I [Jesus] come to you, Holy Father, keep through your own name those whom you have given Me, that they may be one, as We are” (John 17:11).
“You have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If you loved Me, you would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for My Father is greater than I [Jesus]” (John 14:28). “But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God” (I Corinthians 11:3). God the Father is head of the God Family of whom Christ is part.
Notice there is a Father – Son relationship revealed. “Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also Himself likewise took part of the same; that through death He might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil” (Hebrews 2:14).
“But while he [Joseph] thought on these things [Mary being pregnant and still a virgin], behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, You son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary your wife [engaged at that time]: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins” (Matthew 1:20-21).
“Again I [Jesus] say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 18:19). Did you notice Jesus had a Father!!! “So likewise shall My heavenly Father do also unto you, if you from your hearts forgive not everyone his brother their sins” (Matthew 18:35). There is a definite connection, a relationship between Son and Father! Note further: “To him that overcomes will I grant to sit with Me in My throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with My Father in His throne” (Revelation 3:21). The Father-Son relationship!!!
“But you are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the LIVING God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels” (Hebrews 12:22).
“But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all” (Galatians 4:26). We should be thankful that a Father-Son relationship exists. We can be partakers of the same and reside in New Jerusalem.
