Even the Little Things

By Richard Goff

We daily enter a very serious battle with Satan and his evil forces throughout the world. (I Peter 5:8-9) If we are to have any chance to defeat this wicked enemy of all Christians and his diabolical plans and efforts to destroy us, we must begin with fervent and persistent prayer! (II Corinthians 10:4-5 and Ephesians 6:18)

It’s tragic how often many Christians experience no power in prayer and unanswered prayer because of little things that keep them from God. One sin allowed in our life wrecks our usefulness, stifles our joy, and robs our prayer life of power. Sin must be removed from our lives if we wish to be effective Warriors in Prayer. We read in (Psalm 66:18) “If I regard inequity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.”

Wouldn’t it be terrible to suddenly discover that God has turned his back on us? How empty our Spiritual life would be if God closed his ears to our plans. If the psalmist is right-and certainly this is the word of God; Sin automatically shuts the ears of God! When sin exists in our life, it is essential that we quickly take action by humble confessions before our Heavenly Father. If you are praying for something, and you do not get it, do not conclude that God does not answer prayer today as He has over the centuries. Do not conclude that what you are asking for is not according to the will of God.

Spend some serious time alone with God, and ask Him to search your heart, and to show you whether there is anything in your past life that you have done that was wrong that you have not set straight, any sin that you have not exposed, confessed, and repented of, or whether there is anything in your life that is displeasing to him. Then take some time to wait silently before Him, to give God an opportunity to show you. Don’t ignore what His Spirit reveals. If God shows you something, confess it to Him as sin and give it up!

The Bible mentions in numerous places the importance of being on guard against secret sins or blind spots in our lives that prevent true spiritual growth and answered prayers!

Determine in your heart to do nothing you would not like your Heavenly Father to see, say nothing that you would not wish for Him to hear, think no thoughts that would not be well pleasing to Him. Write nothing that you would not like God to read, go no place you would not like Jesus to find you, read no books, watch no programs, and visit no sights on the internet that you would be embarrassed about if Jesus were sitting next to you. Finally remember that the eyes of the Lord are everywhere beholding the evil and the good. (Proverbs 15:3)

Brethren, every moment of everyday we should remember that we have to one day give account for the things we do and the things we say! Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 sums up perfectly how we should live our lives. “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: fear God, (reverence) and keep His commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good or evil.”

Resolve in your heart to never forget that the eye of the Father in Heaven is everywhere! Everywhere in every house, in every group, in every room, whether we are alone or in a crowd the eye of God is always upon us!

The thought of our accountability to God one day can have a great impact on our daily behavior. It will serve as an amazing motivation to watch what we think, speak, and do as we live each day, because we will all stand one day before the judgment seat of Christ to give account and so we must be diligent to watch how we are behaving. God our Father knows us through and through. He heard every word that you spoke today and He even knows what you are thinking at this very minute.

The Bible says that everything done in secret will one day be revealed. Godly change begins with looking soberly in the mirror of God’s Word on a daily basis and praying with a hunger and passion to God for help to transform our lives through the Power of His Spirit.

There is tremendous power in Fervent Prayer! When we cry out to God sincerely and honestly and ask Him to search our hearts and change our mindset so it is conformed to His mind. He will do it! He will show you where you may be living contrary to the Bible, if you will listen. God promises to give you Victory over any sin or habit that displeases Him and to fill you with His Spirit and empower you, equip you, and strengthen you so that you can overcome your bad habits, weaknesses, and addictions, and sin. We can do all things through Christ because in Him there is Victory! With God all things are possible, nothing is impossible, and that is a great encouragement to anyone struggling with sin! God does answer Prayer and provides Protection and Victory!

Brethren, great and awesome things happen to those believers who pray with passion! When believers pray fervently God does something because to pray is to bring the power of God into the life or situation!
