How Was Man Created?
Answering the question "How Was Man Created?" will be a vital key in dispelling false teachings that most churches have concerning the make-up of mankind. All the scriptures pertaining to this topic must be sought-out to get a clear understanding of "What Man Is." If you want a correct understanding of what man is, you go to the Person that created him. You also go to the account of the actual creation of man as described by the One that made him.
"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man BECAME A LIVING SOUL" (Gen. 2:7). How many times have you heard ministers say, when a man dies, his soul went to heaven or to be with the Lord? The meaning conveyed is the flesh body died but the soul went to heaven or hell! Genesis 2:7 says clearly that God breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living soul. The oxygen God breathed into Adam inflated his lungs, and he began the breathing process. The blood circulating throughout the body picks up the oxygen from the lungs and carries it to every cell of the body. This process gives you LIFE as opposed to DEATH.
Notice the word formed in Genesis 2:7. It is #3335 in the Strong's Concordance of the Hebrew language. It means "squeezing into shape." God took dust of the ground and probably mixed it with water and formed a certain shape. It also means "to mold into a form; as a potter." This scripture states that when God breathed INTO Adam the breath of life is when he became a living soul. Nowhere in the Bible can you find a spirit coming down out of heaven to inhabit a person just born or Adam and Eve at creation. When God breathed into Adam's lungs breath, this blew up his lungs and the involuntary muscular system started functioning. He breathed from that day forward without consciously thinking about the process to remain alive.
When a little baby is born and breathing does not automatically start, you swat it on the rear-end to cause crying that sucks oxygen into the lungs. The baby breathes and is alive. If it does not breathe, it dies. The word breathe is the Strong's Concordance of the Hebrew language word #5301. It literally means "to puff." God drew breath into His own lungs, then He blew into Adam and "puffed" his lungs up. It also means "to inflate." It also means "to blow hard." Watch the series ER on TV and notice how they give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation - identical to what God did to Adam! After God performed this mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, man became a LIVING soul. Did you get that? MAN IS A SOUL - a live soul compared to a dead soul!
The Hebrew word translated as soul in English is nephesh. Every single place this word is used in the Old Testament it is referring to animals, beast of burden such as oxen, donkeys, giraffe, fish of the sea as well as MAN. The word nephesh in Hebrew literally refers to ANY living creature that breathes oxygen to live. Even the birds [fowl] of the air are called souls [nephesh]. Example: Your dog is a soul! Your cat is a soul! Your gold fish is a soul! Your pet bird is a soul! Even your son's pet turtle is a soul!
After Adam Sinned
Note God's words to Adam after he had sinned: "In the sweat of your face shall you eat bread till you return UNTO the ground" (Gen. 3:19). This did not say a soul inside your body would go to heaven. It said YOU [Adam] would return to the ground. "…for out of it [the ground] wast thou taken: for dust YOU ART, and unto DUST shalt you return" (Gen. 3:19).
There is more to being a human than an animal. While all are living souls if we breathe oxygen, God said He made man in His image (Gen. 1:26). There is more than man being made of dust and returning to dust upon death. There is something IN man that allows God to know who we are even after we die. This makes possible the resurrection FROM the dead! If everyone goes to heaven or hell upon so called death, then why is so much time spent giving us the HOPE of a resurrection from the dead in the Bible? If you "go to heaven" when you supposedly die [but are alive with God] or if you go "to hell" upon death [but are alive to feel pain], then how can we identify death? Why would God inspire a need for a resurrection FROM the dead? Yet much of the Bible is devoted to the resurrection where people come out of graves (Ezek. 37:1-14; Mal. 4:1-3).
Death During the Flood
The Bible reveals a necessity for covering the whole earth with a flood of waters. ALL flesh died that moved upon the earth. We have already determined from the original creation that mankind was made from dust. That which is "born of Flesh IS flesh." Scripture says that all flesh died that moved upon the earth in that day and time. God did not say that only man died, rather EVERY fowl of the air, of cattle, of beast, and every creeping thing. "And ALL flesh DIED that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: all in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died" (Gen. 7:21-22).
Every thing died that lived out of water. Why did they die? Because they couldn't breathe oxygen anymore - they were submerged under water. Only those living [souls] fish that breathed oxygen through gills lived! All living souls [Heb. "nephesh"] inhaled liquid into their lungs and couldn't breathe oxygen, therefore died. When breath enters into you, you become a LIVING SOUL! Without oxygen, you become a DEAD soul! Not one scripture can be found in the entirety of the Bible that says "an immortal soul" left the flesh bodies and went to "heaven" or "hell." They were told they would return to dust. The only item that God put into Adam and Eve at creation was the "breath of life." Never did God say an "immortal soul" was put inside that flesh body. No, God said man became a LIVING SOUL - he IS a soul!
One minister stated, when caught in perverse sexual acts with a prostitute, that his "flesh man" sinned, but his "spirit man" did not sin. This shows his ignorance of the scripture that says man BECAME a living soul! Man, himself, IS a soul. When you sin, you can't blame it on something else. It is you that sinned although Satan and his angels can deceive people into sin.
Death Is Confirmed as the Absence of Life
"Thou hidest thy face, they [mankind] are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they DIE, and return to their dust" (Ps. 104:29). That is clear as to the basic make-up of man. One of the keys to understanding the Bible is never to set a doctrine upon a hard-to-be-understood or vague scripture. No, you go directly to the crystal clear scripture that cannot be misunderstood. This verse says clearly that when the breath leaves the body it dies.
Since Satan is in the process of deceiving the whole world (Rev. 12:9), he has promulgated the false teaching that Jesus came and did away with the Old Testament. This teaching would prevent people from reading the clear statements of WHAT man is made of and HOW God created him. I was taught while growing up that all the Old Testament was good for today is reading a Psalm once in awhile for inspiration.
The Apostle Paul wrote to a young evangelist while the only scriptures available was the Old Testament: "And that from a child thou hast known the HOLY SCRIPTURES, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be[come] perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Tim. 3:15-17). If you reject the Older Writings, you will never know the truth. You will continue to believe paganism wrapped up in Christian sounding names as handed down through the Middle Ages.
Can Your Thoughts Cease?
In discussing man's plight on earth the Psalmist said: "His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts PERISH [cease]" (Ps. 146:4). People who have died are not in heaven or hell thinking. When someone dies, their thoughts CEASE. You become clinically dead when oxygen and blood do not circulate to feed the cells of the body. The Bible states clearly the body RETURNS to the earth - not to heaven or hell! MAN IS MORTAL subject to death as opposed to immortal. People attend church services and sing songs that refer to "mortal" man, then turn right around and preach that man has an immortal soul that goes to heaven when you die. WHAT IS DEATH if you are still alive in heaven or hell? Go back and read Genesis 2:7 again: "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man BECAME a living soul."
Can a Soul Die?
If man became a LIVING soul when God breathed into him the breath of life, can man also become a DEAD soul? This is a legitimate question! Only the One Who created man can give us the correct answer: "Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the SOUL that sinneth, it shall DIE" (Ezek. 18:4,20). God created reproductive organs that man and woman could reproduce after their own kind. When a tiny baby is born, it suddenly sucks oxygen into its lungs and BECOMES a living soul. When that tiny soul grows older and sins, the death penalty comes upon him or her. Death will become inevitable without intervention by God. But what is sin that brings the death penalty upon us - the absence of life, or a dead soul?
"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin IS the transgression of the law" (1 John 3:4). Death or the absence of life is that which we are to be redeemed by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. If we are not redeemed FROM death, then we will remain dead forever - return to the ground from which we came. God made us to be temporary beings needing to be transformed FROM flesh to spirit to remain alive. We are mortal. The Bible attests that if we remain flesh when the salvation process is over, we will return to dust or ashes! "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud [that remain flesh] yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall BURN THEM UP, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch…And ye [righteous] shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ASHES [dust] under the soles of your feet in the day that I shall do this, saith the Lord of hosts" (Mal. 4:1-3). God is scientific. He knows when you burn wood or flesh it becomes ashes [dust] and inert gases that blow away as air. "But the wicked shall PERISH…into smoke shall they consume away" (Ps. 37:20). Clearly, the Bible reveals those burned up will return to dust and air [inert gases]. When wood is burned in a fireplace, the results are a pile of ashes and smoke that goes up the chimney. This is the same result of every living creature that burns up. The Bible is scientific when intended to be.
Once again Ezekiel 18:4 and 20 proves what we discussed at the time of the flood. SOULS DIED when they could not breathe oxygen, whether those souls were animals or humans. Why doesn't the religious community just believe the Bible instead of Plato and Aristotle who were "enlightened" Gnostics - Illuminati?
