Dear Newswatch Magazine Listeners/Readers:

F ort Polk, Louisiana
I went onto the base and asked for the head of public relations. She was a very friendly and helpful non-military person. She was hired from the civilian community to present the military in light of her honest belief concerning it. She believed the regular personnel were very loyal and courteous young men and women. I personally met with many of the enlisted personnel and agreed with her 100%.
She brought me up to date on many of the military exercises conducted at Fort Polk. One such exercise was conducted in 1995 and again in 1997. These exercises were called "Partnership for Peace." Former Communist satellite nations that were applying for membership into NATO were brought to Fort Polk in joint exercises with NATO - meaning mainly the United States military.
Another exercise was with former Communist countries also that were not yet accepted into NATO. The exercise was code named "Cooperative Nuget."
There was a major problem with these exercises in my mind - but not the militaries. The military had been told that Communism is dead - the Cold War is over - therefore, the former Communist countries are no longer a threat to America.
However, what the ordinary military personnel was not told by the Pentagon or Civilian leaders is the following:
After the supposed fall of the Soviet Union, International Currency Review published a list of the leaders of the so-called independent republics. The list revealed:
Azerbaijan: KGB General Gaidar Aliyev, former Communist Party First Secretary.
Armenia: Levon Ter-Petrosyan, KGB-controlled nationalist leader.
Belarus: Aleksandr Lukashenko and Vyacheslav Kebic, Communist Party Soviet Union Central Committee members, opposed to the USSR breakup.
Estonia: Lennart Meri - assuming things are exactly as they appear, Meri is the only genuine non-communist leader of a former Soviet republic.
Georgia: MVD General Eduard Shevarnadze, USSR Politburo member under Gorbachev, Georgian Communist Party First Secretary, and non-voting member of Brezhnev's Politburo.
Kazakhstan: Nursultan Nazrbayev, USSR Politburo member under Gorbachev, Kazakh Communist Party First Secretary, and President of Kazakhstan S.S.R. Minister under Gorbachev.
Kyrgyzstan: Asar Akayev and Apas Dzhumagulov, Kyrgyzstan Communist Party Central Committee member and Premier of the Krgyzstan S.S.R. respectively.
Latvia: Valdis Birkavs and Anatolijis Gorbunovs, Communist Party Secretary and Latvian Communist Party Secretary for ideology.
Lithuania: Algirdas Brazauskas, First Secretary of the Lithuanian Communist Party.
Moldova: Mircea Snegur. Communist Party Soviet Union Central Committee member and Communist Party First Secretary, Moldavia S.S.R.
Russia: Boris Yeltsin, non-voting member, Communist Party Soviet Union Politburo. Followed by Vladimir Putin, KGB.
Tajikistan: Rakhmon Nabiyev, Tajik Communist Party boss.
Turkmenistan: Saparmurat Niyazov, First Secretary of the Turkmen Communist Party, member of Gorbachev's Politburo.
Ukraine: Leonid Kuchma, former communist director of a USSR missile plant.
Uzbekistan: Islam Karimov, Communist Party First Secretary of Uzbekistan.
(International Currency Review: 22, 3-4)
Fort Polk has a continuous rotation program of military personnel from all over the country. They train in Rural and Urban Environments, Laser warfare, Combat Readiness Exercises, Advanced War Fighting - Digital Technology, Joint War Fighting Experiments. There are usually 5,000 troops on the base at a time in these rotating exercises.
There are Special Forces A Teams exercises - better known as the Navy Seals. U.S. personnel flies Russian Hind Mi-24, Mi-17, Mi-2, and An-2-colt aircraft in training exercises.
Fort Polk is definitely engaged in United Nations training exercises. Fort Polk personnel trained for UN Peacekeeping roles in Haiti and Bosnia and others. They support the JRCT Special Forces A Teams [Navy Seals] and on paper the 18th Airborne Division.
I was directed to the Museum for further understanding of Fort Polk's role in our military adventures. There I met Spc. Isaac Golding who was very helpful in explaining the U.S. military involvement in the Desert Storm conflict. He gave me a complete tour of the museum that had already opened to the public. Part of the displays were captured military vehicles from the Desert Storm conflict. A featured display was inside the museum. It was the UN flag that flew over the operation in Haiti. He explained how a U.S. general would liaison between the UN and USA headquarters set up right next to each other.
I met several of the enlisted personnel. One married couple was Pfc. and Pv. 2nd class Floate - very polite and courteous young couple. After I finished my talking with each of the people I met in the military, I asked them if they had ever heard of the Posse Comitatus Act and State Department publication 7277. The answer in both cases by each person was NO! I explained that NO military personnel was ever to be used against civilians in America - the Posse Comitatus Act. Then I explained State Department publication 7277 was to turn ALL military equipment and personnel over to the United Nations in three stages.
Too bad such nice people, who are so sincere, are being misled by their leaders!!!
Sincerely,
