Dear Newswatch Magazine Listeners/Readers:
B ecause of disobedience, the northern 10 tribes of Israel were deported out of their land and finally sifted through the nations and lost to historians. There were basically two reason WHY they were lost to historians: !) Their name was changed many times as they migrated through different regions; 2) They ceased keeping the Sabbath [Ex. 31:12-17] which was to be the identifying sign that they were part of God's chosen nation to exhibit His truths to the world.
After being taken captive and relocated below the Black and Caspian Seas, the tribes of the House of Israel PLUS thousands of the tribe of Judah [nick-named Jews] were used by their Assyrian conquerors as a buffer state to ward off any advances by the Medes. Soon, groups of Israelites started moving to the east and north and west. The main body of people remained in the area for about a hundred years, during which time they fought as mercenaries. Their unique triangular arrow points were even found in the ruins of the burned gates of Jerusalem - meaning that some of the Lost Ten Tribes were mercenaries for King Nebuchadnezzor when Babylon captured Jerusalem.
Soon after the power of the Assyrians was broken by Babylon, vast numbers of the Israelites began several migrations. The two main groups moved west under the Black Sea and north through the Dariel pass of the Caucasas mountains into the steppes of south Russia. A large group moved east. These were called Sakka and Iskuza by the Medes and Persians. Some made their way to Japan, while the main body of population headed west to populate northwest Europe and the far western island of Britain. These migrations continued way into the 17th century when some from the tribe of Manasseh sailed the north Atlantic to Plymouth Rock.
The reason why the Lost Ten Tribes of Israel seem lost is that the name of historical accounts and archeological finds by modernists are NOT the same names they were given by the peoples of a land area as they migrated. To more confuse the issue, large groups of Israelites called themselves by different names. Some called themselves the House of Isaac, which they pronounced e-sahk with emphasis on the last syllable. How natural for the Persians to call them the Sakka (Sacae in Greek), while the Assyrians called others the House of Omri, after the sixth king of the northern tribes of Israel. This name sounded like Khumri and was variously pronounced Ghumri, Gimri, Gimira, Gammer, all of which turned into the Greek Kimmeroii, in English Cimmerians.
So the Israelites weren't lost, just their name became lost to confuse and blind those who were not seeking God's truth. The House of Judah [nick-named Jews today] was promised that the Messiah would come through his lineage (Genesis 49:10). While the birthright promises of national greatness through wealth and world power was to come through the lineage of Joseph's two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh. "Now the sons of Reuben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was the firstborn; BUT, forasmuch as he defiled his father's bed, his birthright was given unto the SONS OF JOSEPH the son of Israel: and the genealogy is not to be reckoned after the birthright. For JUDAH prevailed above his brethren, and of him came the CHIEF RULER [Jesus Christ]; BUT THE BIRTHRIGHT WAS JOSEPH'S)" (1 Chronicles 5:1-2). This national greatness promised by the birthright was to come "in the LAST days."
When the House of Judah and the House of Israel split into two different nations, the legal name of Israel was to remain WITH Joseph. Old Jacob blessed Joseph's two sons in private before he blessed the other eleven sons as recorded in Genesis 48. In verse 16 he said "…bless the lads [Ephraim and Manasseh]; and let MY [Israel's] NAME BE NAMED ON THEM…"
We have to look for nations that fulfill ALL the promises in order to find LOST Israel who are NOT the Jews. The fact that people have been looking to the wrong people for the fulfillment of the promises has left the Ten Lost Tribes out of their picture. Jesus even said He was sending the Apostles to the "lost sheep of the House of Israel" (Matthew 10:5-7). They were know as:
1. Khumri by the Assyrians - corrupted to Gimira. And Kimmeroii by the Greeks.
2. In Media they became known as Scythians.
3. Driven through the Caucasus mountains by the Medes, they became known as Caucasians.
4. The Cimmerians [English] in Europe moved up the Danube River and became known as Celts from 650-500 BC.
5. Others were driven out of south Russia by their unknown brethren called Scythians between the River Oder and Vistula to the Baltic. They later became known as Cimbri.
6. South Russia was invaded by people's called Sarmatians, who drove the Israelites called Scythians northwest through Poland into parts of Germany.
7. The Romans re-named the Scythians Germans [meaning "genuine"] to distinguish them from the Sarmatians in Scythia. Some came to Britain as Anglo-Saxons in 450-600 AD; others, moved into Jutland [Denmark] became known as Danes and Vikings. Some went directly to England, while others settled for a short time in France and were called Normans.
